Breakfast is always a tough meal for me because my head wants to start the day with something high in protein (hey, Eggs!), but my heart wants to kick off the day with a carb fest (I’m lookin at you, Bagel).
I’ve also tried smoothies, oatmeal, cereal, baked oatmeal…you name it! And yet year after year I’ve continued looking for my breakfast soulmate. Until this week, when I finally mastered the perfect breakfast smoothie! It’s super high in protein, but also incredibly delicious. It takes me about 5 minutes or less to get the ingredients out and make a double recipe. Nick has also jumped on the smoothie train with me and we may never look back! Try this recipe out and let me know what you think!The perfect power breakfast smoothie:
- 1 ripe banana
- ½ c. Greek yogurt, plain
- 1 c milk (I prefer almond milk)
- 1.5 T. cocoa powder, unsweetened
- 1 T. peanut butter (or any nut butter)
- 6ish ice cubes
Blend all of the ingredients in your handy dandy blender. Pour. Drink. Enjoy!
(Makes 1 serving but can easily double the recipe)
